Mechanical Drafter

Dixie Mechanical, Inc. is currently hiring a mechanical drafter to join the family. If you have some experience in AutoCAD and are looking to advance your career in fabrication and construction drafting, this job is for you.

Job Details:

  • Part-time OR Full-time
  • Entry Level

Job Requirements:

  • Some AutoCAD experience (you do not need to be proficient, but must be able to learn quickly)
  • Must be willing to work nights or weekends as needed depending on workload/project deadlines
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Highly organized and able to quickly and clearly communicate
  • Must be eager and ready to learn

Estimator

Dixie Mechanical, Inc. is currently hiring an estimator to join the family. If you have some experience in estimating such as assessing RFQ scope of work, material and labor take-offs, developing estimates, customer relations, vendor relations, planning, scheduling and assisting the project manager, then this may be a fit for you. This position offers a great deal of personal reward related to overall project successes as well as an opportunity to be an integral part of our company during this aggressive growth phase.

Job Requirements:

  • College degree with an applicable focus such as engineering, building science, construction management, etc. (Could be optional depending on level of experience)
  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team
  • Above average in Microsoft Excel. Ability to create and manipulate complex spreadsheets
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings both isometric and 2-D (plan and elevation)
  • General knowledge of math and basic trigonometry
  • Ability to read and comprehend project specifications and understand contractual terms and conditions
  • Good time management with ability to prioritize multiple work tasks
  • Hard worker who performs well under time sensitive deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in both written and oral communication
  • Prepare accurate, organized estimates and proposals

Project Managers

At Dixie Mechanical, our Project Managers are responsible for the overall execution of the fabrication project including budgeting, coordination, scheduling, customer relations, purchasing and vendor relations, and management of any subcontractors.

Our Project Managers ensure that all fabrication is in accordance with all ASME and client procedures and specifications, while working closely with our Quality and Safety Managers.

Some essential functions of a Project Manager include:

  • Attending project kick-off meeting with client.
  • Creating and maintaining a good working relationship with the client.
  • Establish the project budget.
  • Coordinate material procurement and subcontract purchase orders.
  • Review the estimate against the drawings, scope and specifications.
  • Generate change order requests as needed.
  • Manage all RFIs.
  • Communicate project specifications and contract terms to shop personnel.
  • Review all drawings for release to shop.
  • Manage subcontracts such as painting, inspection, testing, etc.
  • Responsible for completing documentation requirements both initial submittals and final data packages.
  • Communicate project status with clients, internal and external.
  • Review and approve invoices.

Required Qualifications and Core Competencies include:

  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • General understanding of Microsoft Excel with the ability to create spreadsheets.
  • Engineering or construction management degree, or equivalent technical training.
  • Understands the importance of attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, both Isometric and 2-D.
  • Ability to read and comprehend project specifications, understanding contractual terms and conditions.
  • Some experience preparing estimates and proposals.
  • Good time management with the ability to prioritize multiple work tasks.
